Frequently asked questions…
How do I book a portrait session?
Booking and Cancellation policy
To book your session, email me an enquiry (firstname.lastname@example.org za) at least 2-3 weeks prior to your required date. Once we have established the perfect date and time, you will need to pay a deposit which is 50% of your session fee. Please note that the date is not held until the deposit is made. Your full session fee is required within 72 hours of your session date.
Should you be enquiry be within a week of your required date and I have availability, your full session fee will be required to ensure your date is booked.
I usually only do one photo shoot a day, so when one appointment date gets changed, it can throw off my schedule for the day as well as the schedule of the person who is watching my toddler for me while I work. I also hire backdrops and sometimes props for your session. Therefore, please choose your date and time carefully.
I totally understand when children get sick! All appointments that are cancelled due to an emergency may reschedule. If an appointment is cancelled, the client has up to 1 week to reschedule or they will lose their deposit. If the 2nd appointment time that was made is also cancelled, then the client will lose the deposit made.
Should you cancel within 24 hours, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply!
If for any reason/emergency, I have to cancel your photo shoot then I will do my very best to give you the next date of your choice, as well as 10% off your photo shoot.
What should we wear?
– you will want to wear something comfortable, I always suggest a jeans and a comfortable sweater/ shirt.
You will also want to dress in similar colours that compliment each other so one family member doesn’t stand out more than everyone else because he/she is wearing a super bright top while the rest of the family is wearing shades of blue or brown etc.
Please do not go shopping and buy the same outfits for everyone (this is not necessary at all)
Wear something comfortable, I always suggest tights and a comfortable tummy hugging top or even a dress.
If dad is part of the maternity portraits, he can wear jeans and a comfortable top.
Always try to wear clothing that is plain, nothing with large logos, prints or pictures
– I suggest 2 outfits for parents and siblings, first outfit is jeans and black top and second outfit is something light and comfortable, also colours that compliment each other, you may bring an outfit or two for your newborn although I will be using wraps and outfits etc
Toddler and cake smash portraits
– Kiddies can wear anything cute – after all this shoot is ALL about them…
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes I do offer a payment plan on investment packages over R2000. However all monies need to be received before any photographic packages may be collected
When will we receive our photos?
Digital images and prints take between 5-7 days while wall art takes between 8-12 days.
All prints and wall art selections must be made within 1 month of receiving your gallery.
What can we expect during our photoshoot?
With all portrait shoots I will start photographing the children and then move on to include the parents.
As with all kids, it can sometimes be difficult to get them to pose for portraits. I urge parents to be relaxed in the studio and not force their kids to pose for photos as this upsets the children and results sometimes in crying, and no smiles.
I am very relaxed in the studio and introduce the children to myself and my camera. Once they realise that they can see themselves on my camera after I take a photo, they are usually happy to pose for more.
All portrait shoots are between 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Newborn portraits are 2 hours, moms can expect to feed their newborn a little extra during this time, I also recommend that moms give their newborns a top up feed once you have arrived for your session as this will help baby sleep nicely for your session. Some newborns are more awake than others and I also love these sessions as I get to capture them staring straight at the camera… so precious
