Your Birth Story Captured….
Birth photography is my passion and I feel so fortunate that I am able to capture and document your baby’s Birth day for you.
Having a photographer at your birth is an amazing opportunity to capture one of the most important moments in your life.
I capture the moments you do not see, the moments of love between you and your partner, the moment you meet your baby for the FIRST time….these are moments you are able to treasure forever.
Imagine looking back on your memories with your little one in a few years, reliving the moment you met and being able to share with them their journey into this world.
The Birth of your child is one of THE MOST AMAZING days of your life and of course you want to have the moment captured.
Frequently asked questions
Why should I hire a birth photographer? My partner can take photos…
You will want your partner to be a part of the birth, to keep their focus on you and not worry about the camera and trying to capture photos.
Do you capture both natural and cesarean births?
Yes I do.
How much does birth photography cost?
The Cesarean package starts at R4500. An hourly rate can be arranged to suit your budget
If you want to include additional portraits with your birth portraits such as maternity and newborn these start at R7500. And can go up to R13 000 and include maternity, newborn*, 3 month*, 6 month*, 9 month* and a 1 year cake smash* (*Magical Milestone Portraits)
Do you offer payment plans?
I do. For Birth portraits, R1000 of your session fee is due at the time of booking to reserve your due date, and you can pay however often as you’d like up until 4 weeks before your estimated due date, which is when your final balance is due in full. Should you want to include additional packages such as Magical Milestone Portraits, then a breakdown of each session will be given to you and payment is due 5 days prior to each session
When should I book with you?
As early as possible. I always like to meet with my clients beforehand, this is important for us to get to know each other, and to discuss your expectations.
How far away will you travel to photograph a birth?
I am based in the Northern suburbs so all the hospitals close by, to name a few these are:
Panorama Medi Clinic,
Netcare N1 City,
Origin Maternity Hospital,
Louis Leipold Medi Clinic,
Milnerton Medi Clinic,
Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital
Do you do maternity or newborn sessions ?
Yes I do
Do you use flash during a birth?
I generally do not. I bring my flash and might use it while capturing in your room after your birth if this is okay with you, this is totally dependent on the amount of light available but I do everything I can to not use it.
How long will you be there before and after I give birth?
For Cesarean births I am usually there and hour before you go into theatre and stay for about 2 hours after to possibly capture the extended family meeting baby.
For Natural, this will be discussed in our meeting but usually I will arrive when you are 5cm dialated and will only leave about an hour or two after baby has been born
What if you get sick or can’t make it to the birth for some reason?
While I do not get very close or touch your baby during a birth session, I believe the delivery environment should be as free of germs as possible. I will not attend your birth if I am running a fever, vomiting, have a new cough, sore throat or congestion. If I am recovering from a cold, I will voluntarily wear a mask. I have an incredible network of backup photographers that can be called on in an emergency.
How does it work if a backup photographer has to attend my birth?
We will discuss who you would prefer to shoot your birth in the extremely slim chance that I would not be able to make it. (I provide you with a short list of available backups around your due date after you have paid your deposit and booked.) If a backup has to shoot your birth, they hand the RAW photos over to me for editing, and I handle the rest from there.
How many images can I expect to get?
Usually 80-100 edited images.
Will my photos be in color or black & white?
Most of your photos will be come in both color and black & white versions.
Are you going to post my photos on the internet?
All clients are asked to sign a model release, allowing me to share a select number of photos online. That being said, you will make any decisions regarding publicity and marketing permissions during our client interview, and reserve the right to change your mind after the birth. Only modest photos will ever be posted, and all slideshows are reviewed & approved privately before published.
Do you have doulas that you recommend?
